Community Arts Center, 414 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, in cooperation with the Potters Guild, is hosting its ninth annual Empty Bowls luncheon, a nationwide project dedicated to the aid of hunger fighting organizations, on Sunday, October 23rd from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. For a minimum donation of $10 per bowl, you’re invited to enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread served in a beautiful handmade bowl of your choice with 100% of the proceeds from the fundraiser going to local food banks in Philadelphia and Chester.
Debby Yoder, Executive Director of Community Arts Center, said, “The Empty Bowls luncheon is made possible by professional and amateur ceramic artists, generous local chefs and dedicated volunteers. Preparations began with summer and fall Empty Bowls workshops where students, faculty, and Potters Guild members created and donated more than 500 one-of-a-kind bowls. For a small donation, luncheon attendees choose one of the handcrafted bowls to use and are served homemade soups and breads donated by local restaurants and food purveyors. The bowls are then taken home as a reminder of all of the empty bowls in the world.”
