Last Tuesday, a friend and I gathered our 5 children (total) ages 5.5 to 2 weeks old and headed off to Cherry Crest Farms in Ronks, PA. This is one of my FAVORITE outdoor things to do with my children. It’s such “simple” enjoyment!
Cherry Crest is a 4 hour day, at least. Our routine is to visit the barn first, because my girls love to hold the baby chicks. We’ve even gotten so lucky as to see one hatch from an egg in the incubator! We then venture outside the barn and check out the other animals. The rabbit is the largest we’ve ever seen! And this visit we got to see kid goats that were weeks old, at most, and baby llamas, a first for us as well! We then do the activities by the terrific bathroom facility. I also appreciate the nursing room. Can’t say enough how family friendly Cherry Crest is!
We then take the tractor ride (about 20 minutes) around the facility and learn about the property, family, and animals there. The tractor drops us off at the far end of the farms activities, which works out great. We do the kid version of the corn maze. One day, when my girls are older, I can’t wait to do the 2-hour flashlight maze with them. Cherry Crest is known for their corn maze! Or maybe this year my husband and I will go there on a date night…
The kids love everything about the giant pillow. It’s a trampoline, sand box, and front row seat to the Strasburg Railroad that passes through. Their other favorite is the sack slide on the side of the shaded hill. This year I also noticed their sling shot arms got a bit stronger and the balls projected a tad further. As always, I adore the hammock chairs. Ahhhh.
There’s a new frozen yogurt shed at Cherry Crest that allows you to put your own toppings and pay by weight. Price was super fair. 3 ice creams, 2 toppings put on by the children (you can imagine how many gummy bears landed in that bowl), and it came to only $8!
We’ll be back the end of September, and I can not wait! If you go now, I suggest buying the “Summer Bounce Back” tickets, for only $5 more you can return anytime before Sept 19th!
Disclaimer: In exchange for my honest reviews and publicity, Cherry Crest Farms has given me passes for my family to visit.
