Just as Julie Andrews sang and Oprah screamed, “these are a few of my favorite things” can bring a smile to every moms face! We all have little items around the house that we just appreciate so much. Why not share the love with friends? I was in desperate need of a Girls Night Out, though now we’ve transitioned to calling them “Moms Night Out”. So I invited my friends over last Friday and this is how we spent it…..
1) Each person was to bring 5 of their favorite things. These items could be anything: food, kitchen tool, beauty product, gift card to favorite place, clothing item, etc.
2) The items could not cost more than $6 a pop. So everyone was spending no more than $30 to play along.
3) Each person brought their favorite appetizer or dessert to share and I supplied all ‘necessary’ beverages.
The night of the party, all of the favorite things were lined up in concealed bags. The 10 looming bags of mysterious favorites that we were all anxious to see seemed to stare at us. What did our closest girl friends consider their FAVORITE thing???
We initially snacked and chatted. Then we sat down and started the process. In a bag, I had 5 copies of each of our 10 names. The first person in the line up took her bag and began telling us the story of why she considered that item her favorite, then it was revealed. We all ooed and aahhed, giggled or even teared up! Then she chose 5 names at random and those 5 ladies collected their item. This went on for all 10 of us to share and give. In the end, all of us walked away with 5 different items. Also, at the end, we voted on the best, most creative or special, items and then a prize was awarded! Thanks for BSM Media and Premama, we had a box of Premama Prenatal Vitamin Mix as well as a $30 Target gift card to give away!!!!
The first place was my friend J who had a very sweet and sentimental journal to present as her favorite thing. It’s a five-second journal for moms. This literally made a certain member of our party tear up! The second place vote went to E who had a very nifty collapsible colander, perfect for washing fruit. I love space savers!
Finally, it was my turn to present my favorite thing, an egg timer and Dark Chocolate Wilbur Buds. Plus, I was super excited to present each of my friends with a “Swag Bag” full of goodies, thanks to BSM! It was totally my Oprah-moment! The ladies were all thrilled to have an assortment of tea as well as Chick-Fil-A reusable cup for themselves and to bring their children home the cow stuffy. The BioGaia probiotics coupon was very generous and Wisk detergent packets perfect for our “laundry never ends” lifestyle. The gifts just kept on giving Friday night! If you are looking to gather some girlfriends and do something different I highly recommend this idea. It was fun to learn more about my friends! Like that C flosses obsessively after each meal and so dental floss was one of her favorite things. Or that K doesn’t drink coffee but can’t get enough of a local coffee shops chai latte. I didn’t get that gift card but I will surely be stopping by to try this favorite thing! I.Love.Caffeine.
Thank you to my girls for sharing in this fun and memorable evening. Cheers!!!
