The Kids Corner Music Festival on Sunday is a public, family-focused festival celebrating Kindie music and family entertainment. It offers kids the experience to listen and see live music and dance to a style of music made for them.
“We’re celebrating the positive power of music in the lives of families at The Kids Corner Music Festival,” said Kids Corner host Kathy O’Connell. “Kindie is quality music for kids based on the same passion and guidelines followed in making music for adults, so parents appreciate it as much as their kids.”
KindieComm is an annual gathering of musicians who have made it their mission to perform for kids. “Kindie” is an abbreviated term that stands for independent kids’ music: a style of children’s music that melds the sensibility of the singer-songwriter with themes aimed at kids ages 5 to 13.
Kids Corner and WXPN have been advocates for independent kids’ music for more than 25 years. WXPN intends to inform and inspire the musicians and community who unite to support and maintain the Kindie genre through KindieComm. The Kids Corner Music Festival supplements WXPN’s Kids Corner mission to present quality music that the entire family can enjoy.
