PHILADELPHIA CHEFS PARTNER WITH THE SALVATION ARMY
TO SUPPORT LOCAL FEEDING PROGRAMS WITH FARM-TO-TABLE BRUNCH
“Farm to Families” Event to Support Emergency Feeding Programs for Those Less Fortunate
PHILADELPHIA (April 10, 2015) – On May 3, some of the community’s favorite local chefs will be teaming up with The Salvation Army of Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware to celebrate Philadelphia’s farm to table movement and enjoy locally sourced delicacies. Six local chefs representing some of the city’s most popular restaurants will host a special brunch for guests at the Morris House Hotel in center city, each with their own unique dishes served buffet-style. All proceeds from the event will raise awareness and support for The Salvation Army’s emergency feeding programs for those less fortunate in the community.
Guests will be able to visit six food stations serving signature dishes including watermelon gazpacho, fresh fruit and honey smoothies, homestyle waffles with fresh locally grown fruit, and more, all while having the opportunity to meet their favorite chefs and learn about locally-sourced cuisine in the city. The Salvation Army is pleased to team up with the following chefs for the event:
Chef Chris Beyer, JG Domestic of Jose Garces
Chef Michael Griffiths & Chef Kevin D’Egidio, Helm
Chef Evan Seplow, The Belgian Cafe
Adriana Brizuela, Food Blogger from Live.Laugh.Cook
Bryan Cohen, BeSpoke Bacon
Chief Confectioner Joe Green, Affinity Baking
The Salvation Army provides meals and emergency groceries to those in need year-round through its neighborhood corps community centers located throughout the greater Philadelphia region. Ninety cents of every dollar donated to the nonprofit go directly toward its many programs and services, including emergency food for families and individuals.
