Let’t start with an amazing giveaway by MICHELLE JORDAN Photography! Let me give you some background on Michelle. She is a mommy of two adorable children, Stella and Everett, a wife to Rob, and a VERY talented photographer. I asked Michelle to tell me how she started making custom alphabet photography and this is what she had to say:
“When my daughter Stella was born, I had way too much fun designing her nursery. I wanted to create a custom piece of artwork for her as the finishing touch &, as a photographer, decided that seeking out the letters of her name in the world around me would be a neat way to go about it. It took me awhile to find the perfect “letters” but once I’d done it, I was beside myself with excitement! I felt like I had stumbled onto a form of art that, just by its own nature, would remind me to seek out beauty in the everyday; to kind of look beyond the obvious & take notice of all of the magic around us that we so often overlook. What a fantastic daily reminder for myself…and what a simple but powerful message to portray through my artwork!”
Michelle made a custom piece for my daughter’s nursery in which I am ABSOLUTELY in love with. She spelled out GWEN (my daughter’s name is Gwendilynn) in black and white and accented her name with colorful flowers on each end. How GORGEOUS is this?!
I have to say I cried when I first saw this piece. My daughters name was one that I loved as a teenager so seeing this in everyday art form amazed me. Who would have thought that you can find such beauty in words through pictures?
So how does one find letter art? Michelle had this to say, “I started to scout letters in my free time & before I knew it, I had amassed quite a collection of interesting & bold images representing all 26 letters of the alphabet. My husband got to work on several framing prototypes for me, as I was hopeful that my artwork could stand out when hung on the wall, without being distracted by a thick, heavy frame. The clean, classic & contemporary framing system that he developed was just the thing that my art needed to finally feel complete!”
She has designed countless Alphabet pieces; gifts for Dads, Moms, grandparents, couples, children, babies & bosses…for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, showers & just about every holiday under the sun.
And guess what, she has shipped artwork to clients in 33 US states as well as Canada & the UK! Let’s just say she is in demand.
When you check out her website you will see some of the pieces she designs are named.
“Full-Color FAMILY”, “MUSIC”, “Beachy LOVE” & “Rustic HOME” are 4 of my most popular design choices, all of which are viewable under the Alphabet Photography tab on my blog. Custom last name designs are also a favorite, oftentimes ordered to be used as housewarming or wedding gifts. In early 2015, MJP added on a super fun line of tabletop Alphabet pieces & they’ve added a whole new dimension to this colorful little world of mine! These alphabet prints are mounted onto free-standing blocks of wood & I honestly can’t get enough of them! While our original, wall-hanging, classic “Full-sized” pieces run $12 per letter, finished & framed, these “Tabletop Minis” are exactly half the cost of their larger counterpart, at $6/letter. They are a bit more rustic than the clean-lined Full-sizers, as I paint each block of wood by hand & artfully rub its edges down to give it just a smidge of that cool “shabby chic” look. They are considerably smaller as well – each individual letter image on the Minis is about the size of a wallet-sized print while each letter on the Full-sized pieces measures 4×6 inches – and they also conveniently fit just about anywhere you feel like your decor could use a little POP of personality! My personal favorite spot for them is situated sweetly on the moulding over a doorway, with my kitchen window ledge coming in at a close second.”
Michelle says “It has really been such a blessing to have found something that I enjoy doing so much & am so continually inspired by. I absolutely adore my portrait work but this Alphabet project will always hold a special place in my heart. A million thanks to every client who has believed in me & supported my work throughout the years! I do what I love & I love what I do & you fabulous people are the reason that I’m able to say that!”
Follow her blog and/or her FB & IG pages to be kept in the loop regarding both Alphabet & Portrait worlds. She holds Mini Session dates twice a year (sometimes 3 if she is feeling feisty!) + does her best to post the locations & dates of all of the local Art Show appearances where she will showcase & sell her Alphabet work.
HERE IS THE MOMENT YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR… Michelle is giving away one mini custom piece to one LUCKY reader!
