Fist pumping. GTL talk. Drunk shenanigans. Face plants and bar brawls. Just plain old Jersey Shore craziness is what most people think of when they hear “Snooki and JWOWW”. But things have changed for our Meatball and Jenni combo since their Shore days!
This past Monday I had the pleasure of talking to Nicole Polizzi and Jenni Farley about life as a MOTHER. It was hilarious, refreshing, entertaining, enlightening, and well, interesting, to say the least! After a 32-minute conversation with the ladies, I’m certainly excited to watch their new series “Moms with Attitude,” on millennial mom-focused network Awestruck.
To watch their show, you can go to YouTube and Verizon Wireless’ go90 app. The hysterical show features the BFFs as they drink wine and DIY – often at the same time. And as always, these two keep it real and filter-free as they navigate the crazy new world of motherhood.
With Snooki on a tour for her new book “Strong Is the New Sexy: My Kickass Story on Getting My ‘Formula for Fierce’” and JWoww’s announcement of her second baby, these two are ready to share their experiences as stay-at-home moms with the moms who grew up watching them on Jersey Shore.
I’m one of those moms who have been watching these two since the get-go. So interviewing them was quite a crazy experience that I’m so excited to have had! While we were on the phone, I kept shaking my head as I was battling the realization that, “I’m on the phone with Snooki and JWOWW, my life is anything but dull!”
When a bunch of moms get together, as dull as they may be feeling, they usually have entertaining conversation. Maybe it’s just a “girl thing”, but moms definitely know how to entertain one another! My convo with these two felt like those vino induced conversations that I have with my close girlfriends, ENTERTAINING.
Besides the snickers and smiles the ladies gave me with their cursing and bluntness, they were endearing. I learned that they want their children to be comfortable showing their emotions and to be respectful. As a mom, I totally agree with those quality goals! When asked about their social life now and what has replaced “Gym Tan Laundry- GTL”, they said that “Good moms make time for themselves” and I have to agree with that too! Whether it’s going to the gym, getting your nails done, having a date night, or just sitting on the sofa while children are at school, it’s important to “DO YOU” when possible. The ladies still get their hair and nails done and as for GTL, it’s now GTW, Gym Tan Wine. Though they had to debate the “W” for a bit. They still consider themselves “gym rats” and they do tan, only it’s a spray tan now, and they love wine, though Jenni is almost 37 weeks pregnant with her second child, a son, so she’s missing the wine portion of their GTW days.
My favorite question to ask any mom is what did they use to judge about moms before they became one. We all had those “when I’m a mom I will never….” fantasies, then we became moms, lol. Snooki said she used to see moms yelling at their kids in public places and think to herself that they are a hot mess and shouldn’t leave home. Now she says she’s that mom yelling at Lorenzo (her first born son) in the middle of the store. Jenni said she thought co-sleeping was ridiculous and now she finds herself snuggling her daughter in her bed every night. She also thought “mothering” looked easy. She says it is anything BUT easy, it’s super fulfilling, but it is not at all easy. AMEN to that, sista’!
We talked about the tribulations of motherhood in the 2000’s. What the millennial mom goes through that our mothers can’t even fathom. Jenni says that as a mom, we should all be confident in what we believe in. Heed no ones unsolicited advice and trust our mothering instincts. I may not GTW or GTL like these two goofballs, but as a mom, listening to their answers, I get it. Their “keeping it real” with no filter is fun to watch, but knowing at the end of the day they are loving the gift of motherhood the same as I am made them that much more endearing to me. I can’t wait to tune in to their new series on Awestruck on January 20th!
Here’s a sneak peak at a clip of the episode posting on go90 on Wednesday!
On “Kid Swap,” Nicole and Jenni swap kids for the day
and see how well they can parent each other’s children.
