Parents and students are strongly encouraged to attend a special Open House at Widener University’s College Access Center to learn more about the Center’s FREE academic support and pre-college prep programs available to Delaware County residents on Monday September 19th from 6:00pm-8:30pm.
In addition to their standard after-school academic programs such as FREE tutoring, homework help, college and career exploration, SAT/ACT Test Prep, financial aid and scholarship search, and daily mentoring initiatives, the Center will pilot a special Algebra Skills Development Program for local students taking Algebra I or preparing for Algebra II.
“Algebra is always listed as one of the major academic challenges for most high school students and we believe that if we can provide more early development and skill building, it will positively impact success in upper level high school math classes as well as the SAT/ACT exams and future math courses for first year college students”, says CACDC Director Julani Ghana.
Now entering its seventh year, the College Access Center has proven itself to be one of the County’s premiere places to go for information about college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and learning how prepare for life after high school.
To RSVP your child for the Open House on Monday September 19th from 6:00pm-8:30pm, families are strongly encouraged to call (610) 499-1391 immediately as seats will be limited.
The College Access Center is the result of a unique partnership involving the Presidents of six local Colleges and Universities (Widener University, Swarthmore College, Delaware County Community College, Cheyney University, Neumann University, and Penn State University-Brandywine). This collaborative effort led to the creation of the Chester Higher Education Council, a nonprofit organization established to address the educational needs of county residents. Their first major initiative was the College Access Center of Delaware County, located at 400 E. 21st Street, a building owned by Widener University.
