The first week of March, my family of 6 headed to theme park mecca, Walt Disney World. We went two years ago and fell in love! However, my husband and I suffered severe post-traumatic travel stress based on the amount of STUFF we had to haul through the airport. Traveling with four children under the age of 6 was not easy. Traveling with four children under the age of 8 wouldn’t likely be any easier. So I went on a mission to talk to every mom I knew and find out HOW to make this travel experience less traumatic.
Mission.Complete. I was told about RENTING car seats and a stroller in Florida! Who knew!?!?!?
We need our hands to travel efficiently, right? Well, pushing a heavy double stroller through the airport plus the 4 kids and 2 car seats and 4 suitcases and 3 backpacks for carry on nonsense is just insane. We seriously looked like a traveling comedy act. Our biggest regret is not getting a photo of our “hot mess” from one of the MANY people gawking at us! So this time, NO STROLLER. Sounds idiotic, right? Nope! I wore the 2.5 year old on my back, the 2 oldest girls wore two of the backpacks and one pulled a suitcase, my husband had another backpack and 2 suitcases, and the 4 year old held my other hand. BAM, we got this! Then, when we arrived in Orlando, we got into our rental car where we RENTED the car seats we needed and then drove to my in laws house just outside of Animal Kingdom for our 2 night, 3 day stint.
But wait, how will we do Disney without bringing a stroller? No worries, we had that covered thanks to Orlando Stroller Rentals . They offer FREE delivery within a certain amount of miles. So we had them deliver the stroller to my in-laws front door. And they literally did just that. At 12:10pm my father-in-law opened the front door to see the stroller left on the front door step! Punctual.
After our 3rd day at their house, we all went to stay at a WDW Resort for 4 days. The stroller fit perfectly in the rental minivan trunk. Also, the stroller came with a rain cover AND a complimentary cooler! Luckily, we never needed the rain cover. But the cooler was used frequently for our water bottles! And, because they are Walt Disney World’s Preferred Stroller Rental Provider, we were allowed to leave the stroller with the bell service at the resort upon checking out of the hotel. The convenience was tremendous and our traveling act was SO MUCH EASIER!
Orlando Stroller Rentals is a husband and wife team that has been in business since 2008. They have been the leader in this industry as one of the fully authorized Baby Jogger distributors that is also a rental company. Their thorough safety inspection of every stroller is the most critical piece taught to their staff when preparing strollers for the customers.
I also loved that their custom website has been designed for ease of use when placing a reservation and has inventory control so overbooking does not occur. They constantly monitor the stroller market for new designs that may be more “vacation friendly” for their customers. And it works. We LOVED the City Mini GT, it was the perfect height handle bar for my 6’3″ husband to push, great foot rest, had awesome storage underneath AND in pockets behind the seats. But the best part was the sun shade, it had multiple positions and fully covered the children no matter what level of reclining their seat was in, and there was a window for us to peak in on them without crouching down and getting in their face.
Now here’s where I get mushy. I will always be so grateful for this stroller. While in Disney, my 6.5 year old got so ill we needed to go to the local ER. She spent the last few days of our trip in that stroller. A 50lb first grader was VERY comfortable in there and the stroller was still very simple to maneuver. So.Appreciative.
Disclaimer: We received the stroller at zero cost to my family in exchange for this HONEST review. All opinions are my own! And next time we go to WDW, we WILL gladly pay the $85-ish for the luxury and convenience of not traveling with a bulky and heavy stroller throughout two airports! End rant!
