Recently, I was invited in to sweetgreen to try out their food. I chose to go to the one in King of Prussia, since I was out running errands sans children… let me savor that memory for just another second. Ahhh. Anyway, back to logistics. Sweetgreen in KoP is located in the newest wing, upper level, mini-food court between Neiman Marcus and Macy’s.
Sweetgreen is a scratch kitchen / seasonal restaurant / fast casual concept that serves local + organic salads and grain bowls made from scratch every day, using produce delivered that morning. They have 5 locations now in PA – King of Prussia, Ardmore, 10th+Walnut, University City, and Rittenhouse!
I love how there’s a paper menu with information about the restaurant as well as the ordering options that I could hold and take with me. Standing at a counter, squinting to read the menu above is just not my favorite thing to do! But even better than the to-go menus… there’s an app! Sweetgreen does not accept cash, simply pay using their handy app. Heck, you can also save your favorite orders there too! I also appreciated that I could see the ingredients going into the meals behind the glass counter. And they seriously looked so fresh and flavorful I had a tough time deciding on what I was going to get! While standing around pondering, I took in the scene. Next to the counter is a large window where you could see the prep chefs working and preparing the fresh, healthy ingredients. It’s really a very crisp and current restaurant.
Since I was taking my meal to go to the pool with my kiddos, I didn’t want to order one of the warm bowls, so I went with a salad. I got the Hummus Tahini salad which is made up of chopped romaine, shredded kale, herb falafel, local feta, tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers, za’atar breadcrumbs, housemade hummus, cucumber tahini yogurt dressing and served with a delicious and soft slice of fresh bread. This salad filled me up from lunch until 7pm AND I still had some leftover the next day. I also got a delicious Jasmine Green Iced Tea to go with my salad. It was chock full of antioxidants, freshly made, and had zero sugar yet tons of flavor! I seriously can’t wait to return. I described my salad to my mom so vividly that she went the next day with some work friends and enjoyed the Kale Caesar salad with chicken.
